π½οΈ About Osteria La Frasca
Just a short drive from Vasto into the rolling hills of Scerni, you’ll discover Osteria La Frasca, one of those magical places that makes you feel like you’ve stumbled upon Italy’s best-kept secret. This isn’t your typical tourist restaurant β it’s where locals drive out of their way for a meal that feels like visiting nonna’s kitchen, but with the polished touch of skilled chefs who truly understand Abruzzese cuisine.
The menu here celebrates the rustic flavors of inland Abruzzo with dishes that showcase the region’s incredible produce and time-honored recipes. Their handmade pasta is exceptional β think hearty sagne e fagioli that warms you from the inside out, and their arrosticini are perfectly charred and seasoned. The kitchen also excels with local lamb and wild boar preparations that pair beautifully with wines from nearby vineyards.
Set in the peaceful countryside, the osteria occupies a charming stone building that feels authentically Italian without trying too hard. Inside, exposed beams and warm lighting create an intimate atmosphere, while the outdoor terrace offers stunning views over the surrounding hills. It’s the kind of place where conversations flow as freely as the wine, and you’ll find yourself lingering long after the last bite.
For visitors staying in Vasto, this is absolutely worth the 15-minute drive β especially if you want to experience the Italy that locals cherish. Make a reservation, especially on weekends, as word has gotten out about this gem. It’s perfect for a leisurely lunch or romantic dinner when you want to escape the coastal crowds and dive deep into authentic Abruzzese hospitality.

Went on Sunday evening and even though it was too early we could sit down and have a drink. The chef helped us with the menu and recommended some apetizers which were all delicious! He took his time, made sure to check in and even gave us a complimentary apetizer. Excellent service and the food was ...
Lovely restaurant in Scerni. We are so lucky to live nearby. Food really excellent, smiling friendly staff. Great prices too, lovely house wine. We had a great evening. Highly reccomend. Think its best to book a table as very popular.
Great local specialities. Pizza, arostocini and ventricina made in-house. The pizzas are exceptional, even for Italy. Outdoor seating in the summer and plenty of nearby parking. Booking is a must. Itβs a buzzing place and Iβve never been there when itβs been empty.
