Locals rave about the authentic wood-fired pizza and the warm, family atmosphere that makes every meal feel like dining at a friend's house. They especially appreciate the consistent quality and the fact that it's remained genuinely local despite its growing reputation.
π½οΈ About Pizzeria Tipico
Just a short drive up the coast from Vasto, Pizzeria Tipico in Petacciato is one of those wonderful discoveries that makes you feel like you’ve stumbled onto something genuinely local. This family-run pizzeria has been quietly serving some of the most authentic Neapolitan-style pizza in the area, drawing both locals and savvy visitors who don’t mind venturing beyond the main tourist centers for exceptional food.
The menu centers around traditional wood-fired pizzas with perfectly charred crusts and high-quality local ingredients. Their Pizza Marinara is a masterclass in simplicity β just tomatoes, garlic, oregano, and olive oil on that gorgeous bubbled crust. The Spaghetti alle Vongole showcases the coastal location with fresh clams from nearby waters, while their Parmigiana di Melanzane offers layers of perfectly cooked eggplant that melts in your mouth. Everything feels made with care and attention to traditional techniques.
The atmosphere is refreshingly unpretentious β think checkered tablecloths, warm lighting, and the gentle hum of families enjoying dinner together. There’s a lovely outdoor terrace where you can dine al fresco on warm evenings, with glimpses of the Adriatic in the distance. The service has that genuine Italian warmth where they treat you like a neighbor rather than just another customer passing through.
I’d definitely recommend making the short trip here if you want to experience pizza the way locals do. It’s perfect for those evenings when you want something delicious and authentic without the crowds of Vasto’s city center. Just remember that this isn’t a tourist spot β it’s the real deal, which makes it all the more special.
